Season Medals and Shields 2017

Well that’s it all over for another year! Here are the official season results for 2017 (see below  for notes). Full regatta results and season points available at http://eastcoastrowing.ie/results/2017-results/

These results were signed off at a meeting of all clubs on 24/08/17, with medal positions then totted up by the Treasurer and P.R.O. in accordance with ECRC rules.

There were crews tied on points in the U18 Boys, Novice Ladies, and Vets categories, with the medals awarded by ‘countback’ under Rule J3 (see http://eastcoastrowing.ie/rulebook/)

The ECRC will now proceed to order medals for all ‘pointed’ races, although clubs may if they wish order medals for any of their crews in ‘non pointed’ races (U12, Novice Ladies, Novice Men, Veterans). The ECRC Treasurer will be in contact with all clubs to make arrangements.

Despite best efforts, it was not possible to determine medal positions for U12 crews based on the results submitted, but as per the note above, clubs may purchase medals if they so wish.

Mid and long distance rowing races 2017

Everyone loves a good ol’ East Coast Regatta! No better way to spend a Summer Sunday. Or the odd Saturday for that matter. But there’s more to rowing than our ECRC fixture list, with mid and long distance rowing races a healthy part of a balanced rowing diet! With that in mind, we put out the shout on our facebook page for suitable upcoming fixtures for 2017 from around the country and slightly further afield. Here’s what our page followers came back with.

New Rulebook for 2017

Hot off the press.. our new ECRC rules for the coming season.

In a new move, this winter saw the clubs of the East Coast Rowing Council come together for three workshops to address some challenges that have arisen in recent years due to the growth in our sport, and the pressure being felt on the regatta calendar and on race day. These workshops informed a number of motions to the AGM that formed the backbone of this year’s rule changes.

Below is a ‘web view’ of our 2017 rules. A downloadable version is available here, and the permanent link is at http://eastcoastrowing.ie/rulebook/  . Rule changes for this year are recorded in the footnotes.
